Jennifer will present various issues with using livestock to graze common weeds going into fall. She will discuss how livestock may be affected as producers make grazing management decisions for their operation. Attendees will practice identifying common weeds to be aware of which may cause issues in livestock.

Presented by: Joe Lockwood, Yellowstone County Weed Superintendent & Megan Hoyer, Yellowstone County Weed Crew Foreman/Education Specialist
Familiarize yourself with several weeds wreaking havoc in Yellowstone County and other areas of South Central Montana. Yellowstone County Weed District will share what they are seeing throughout the valley and discuss methods of control.
3:00 p.m. — Identifying Non-Target Herbicide Injury
Presented by: Trestin Feagler, MSU Extension Agent in Yellowstone County
Is it a nutrient deficiency or is that herbicide injury? This presentation will cover how to recognize herbicide injury in crop plants. Other details covered include mode of action, and biotic and abiotic plant issues, and record keeping.

Identifying turf disease and pest issues can often be challenging. Heidi Schueler, MSU Horticulture Extension Agent will discuss maintaining Montana lawns effectively. Learn to identify, prevent, and treat common turf disease and pest issues in Montana.
2:00 p.m. — Monitoring Herbicide Resistant Weeds in Sugarbeet Fields in Southern Montana
Presented by: Dr. Lovreet Shergill, Southern Agriculture Research Center Weed Science Assistant Professor
Dr. Lovreet will be covering the results of a survey he conducted in the fall of 2021 looking at herbicide-resistant weeds in sugarbeet fields
3:00 p.m. — Water Quality & Pesticide Performance
Presented by: Dr. Cecil Tharp, MSU Pesticide Education Director
This presentation will focus on water quality factors that may lead to reduced pesticide performance. This includes impacts of pH, hardness, bicarbonates, and total suspended solids (turbidity). Other details discussed will include identifying water quality issues, timing, and mitigation strategies to increase pesticide performance.
